STUDENT AWARDS and SCHOLARSHIPS
The recipient receives a $1,000 award and a complimentary invitation (including travel and accommodation) to attend any 2017 Institute for Perception course. The winner’s name is announced both on their website and in their quarterly IFPress newsletter and the award and plaque are presented during the attended course. Eligibility: Three scholarships are available: Award for Outstanding Presentation on Use of Scientific Principle Award for Outstanding Presentation that Develops or Expands a Method Award for Outstanding Presentation on an Applied Topic The Don Tucker Memorial Award for Graduate Student Research recognizes an outstanding presentation made by a graduate student at the AChemS Annual Meeting. The AChemS Award for Undergraduate Research recognizes an outstanding presentation made by an undergraduate student at the AChemS Annual Meeting. The AChemS Travel Fellowships for Diversity cover the cost of travel, meals, lodging, and registration for under-represented individuals interested in the chemical senses. The AChemS Student Travel/Housing Awards provide funding to support graduate and undergraduate student attendance at the AChemS Annual Meeting. PROFESSIONAL AWARDS (1) Contributions by an established researcher (2) Contributions by a young researcher For both award, nominations were made by any individual within the sensory science community and accompanied by supporting documentation, including: Successful nominees for each award received a cash award of 1000 Euro, a certificate of award, and a one-year subscription to Food Quality and Preference. In addition, the established researcher award recipient will be asked to give a talk based on their research during the Pangborn Symposium. Awards for Senior Investigators The Max Mozell Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Chemical Senses is intended to recognize the accomplishments of a senior scientist working in the chemical senses. The research record should provide evidence of excellence and contributions that have a major impact on research in the chemical senses. Awards for Mid-Career Investigators The following awards are granted to members of AChemS who received their doctoral degree 15 or fewer years prior to the year of the award. The Barry Jacobs Memorial Award for Research in the Psychophysics of Human Taste and Smell is awarded to an outstanding junior scientist whose research record provides evidence of excellence and the promise to emerge as a leader in the field. The Ajinomoto Award for Young Investigators in Gustation is awarded to an outstanding junior scientist whose research record provides evidence of excellence and contributions that have had or are likely to have a major impact on research in the field of gustation. The AChemS Young Investigator Award for Research in Olfaction is awarded to an outstanding junior scientist whose research record should provide evidence of excellence and contributions that have had or are likely to have a major impact on research in the field of olfaction. Awards for Postdoctoral/Young Investigators The following awards are granted to AChemS members who have received their doctoral degree 10 or fewer years prior to the year of the award. These awards are self-nominated. Click on the name of each award for additional details on eligibility requirements. The Polak Young Investigator Award recognizes 5-6 young investigators within 10 years of their doctoral degree based upon the scientific merit of their abstract submission to the AChemS Annual Meeting. The Polak Postdoctoral Travel Awards are given to up to 5 postdoctoral researchers to encourage innovative science at the AChemS Annual Meeting. Institute for Perception Student Award
The Institute for Perception holds an annual competition to identify and reward a senior undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates an exceptional talent and an interest in pursuing a career in sensory science, marketing, psychology, economics or related fields.
IFT Sensory and Consumer Sciences Division Scholarships
* Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time MS or PhD student beginning in the Fall of the academic year.
* Applicant must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
* Applicant must be a student member of IFT at the time of application.
* Applicant must not be graduating before May of the conference year.

Food Quality and Preference Awards
Awarded to a researcher who has made major contributions to our understanding of sensory or consumer science, whether in terms of basic processes, methodologies or applications of knowledge or methods, over a prolonged period.
Awarded to a researcher who received their doctoral degree 10 or fewer years prior to the year of the granting of the award for contributions to sensory or consumer science, whether in terms of basic processes, methodologies or applications of knowledge or methods.
(a) A letter of support outlining the important contributions of the nominee,
(b) Additional information on the nominee including the current position and title, address, telephone, e-mail address, year of receipt of the PhD and a list of publications (alternately include a full CV), and
(c) Up to three other supplemental letters of support.
